…
You’ve probably heard about how sometimes great foodie discoveries are made by mistake. Well, this might not exactly qualify as a great discovery, but I discovered Red Wine Cold Brew Coffee yesterday morning by accident!
Here’s the story of how Red Wine Cold Brew Coffee came to be.
We have a bottle of Maple Syrup in the refrigerator, and also some red wine in a similar squatty bottle.
The stage is set. . .
One recent groggy morning I poured myself some cold brew in a tall glass with ice. Then I poured over just a little thick organic heavy cream.
and then thought I’d add a dollop of Maple Syrup.
Red???
And then I looked at the bottle.
Surprise…Red Wine Cold Brew Coffee!
I didn’t want to waste the coffee and cream, so I thought, let’s see what happens if I take the legit bottle of Maple Syrup out of the refrigerator and add a splash…
I didn’t mix it up, but just cautiously put a straw in it. The red wine flavor was very subtle but the whole thing was so delicious! So then I mixed it up.
I had it again this morning! I think I will probably not do this all the time. But the wine in this is a very small amount. Considering that this is about a 12 oz glass of cold brew and ice.
The wine just adds an amazing back flavor. If you wanted to try this with your own cold brew, it might take some experimentation to get the balance of flavor. Just don’t do too much experimenting! Ha.
So this morning, in an effort to duplicate what I got yesterday, I added 1 tablespoon maple syrup and 1 tablespoon wine.
Turned out it needed 1 more teaspoon of the wine. That must have been close to my “dollop” yesterday.
Not to worry, though, as I said, that amount won’t put you on the road to ruin.
Now the heavy cream, on the other hand, just might. Lol.
PS for those who do not drink any alcohol, you would obviously not want to try this.
