I used to laugh at this until I turned into what I thought was so funny. People decorating their bathrooms seasonally–seriously?! Last August, I started Fall decorating to trick myself into thinking it was Fall already (summer in Arizona lasts forever, ya know!) It kind of worked! So this year I thought why not become what I laughed at before. That person who asks, “why not Fall decorate the bathroom?”
So…I gathered these decorations to begin to Fall decorate the bathroom
Just about everything here is from last year’s Hobby Lobby fall sale
Well, the lighted pumpkin is from this year. Oh, and the galvanized pumpkin with pearls you will see in a minute. I am a sucker for Hobby Lobby decor. And no, they do not pay me anything to say so!
Here is something I didn’t buy at Hobby Lobby! This is a wine bottle I thought was really pretty. I usually save too many bottles but I’m glad I saved this one.
Here is a photo of the powder room I chose to decorate. It’s not a “just for company” powder room. We use it in our daily life. You can see that it’s already quite busy as far as decor goes!
You might ask why would we add anything to this? This bathroom was designed by the former owners, who we think did an amazing job. No, it’s not modern farmhouse! It’s southwest and we love the rich colors. So we thought we’d add a little Fall to it. After all, as we have concluded, why not Fall decorate the bathroom?
The colors work with Fall but we didn’t want to add any more boldness.
So now we started playing! The most fun part
We chose the wine bottle with the simple white pumpkins on sticks.
and put them in the bathroom.
We bought this lighted wicker pumpkin and we were thinking it would be fun to have lights! We wanted to at least try it, and thought we could use it elsewhere if it didn’t work.
Ta-dah! This is the galvanized metal and pearl pumpkin. Do you love it? I think it is brilliant.
We played with these two pumpkins…the wicker with lights and the galvanized with pearls.
The lighted pumpkin seemed too busy with all the colors going on elsewhere. It just looked kind of wrong in back of the sink. So we removed it.
We then moved the wine bottle over to the left and tried it with the galvanized pumpkin. We really liked how they looked together, much better than the lighted pumpkin. But when we stood by the sink, the space seemed a bit crowded since it already had the paper hand towels in a basket there. You almost got the feeling you would push the basket into the pumpkin and bottle.
So we moved the wine bottle over to the right.
We also put some soap and lotion over to the right.
And you can’t Fall Decorate a bathroom without a sweet message of gratitude on a cotton hand towel! On the wall, also to the right of the sink.
We moved things around until it felt right. We wanted to have a sense of roominess, so we tried to leave plenty of room for a hand washer to wash! Aesthetically, as I’ve said, we didn’t want to add to the busyness of the already bold colors and bright lights.
It is simple, but hopefully it still says “Fall”!
We like the understated way it promises good and blessed times to come. Like Thanksgiving!
After all, we all spend time in the bathroom. Why not enjoy some beauty there too?
So now we and our guests will hopefully enjoy and come to agree that it is totally a good idea to Fall Decorate the Bathroom!
