You know that feeling…when the call goes out to take a meal to a new mom, a sick friend, a new neighbor. There’s so much to think about! What to plan, how to package, contacting the recipient to find a good time, how to keep warm. Honestly, for me, it’s more difficult than having someone over. But coming up with meal components for several different meals is a game changer!
What you do is choose some food items that could go together in several ways. Recently I took a meal to a family that consisted of two fresh loaves of sourdough, a spinach/strawberry salad, a bottle of home made dressing, some thinly sliced ham, sliced cheese, roasted red peppers, and 2 dozen sourdough chocolate chip cookies.
The family made sandwiches for lunch, a ham and cheese salad for dinner with some jammy eggs they cooked, and sourdough french toast for breakfast the next day. This family easily got the concept: meal components for several different meals!
I know I overkilled it with the sourdough bread, but I gave instructions for freezing (pre-slice, put in ziplock freezer bag).

This is more of a concept than a recipe. You probably already do this at home as you plan components of meals for your family. But this works very well for taking meals to others! You can deliver them any time, they has different possibilities as far as how the recipient might use them, and it actually covers more than just one meal. I am going to be doing this more often.
Be looking for more ideas for meal components and in the comments, let us know some ideas you have! It would be such a help to put our heads together in order to glorify God as we extend our hands and hearts to others.
